Energy Efficient Home Upgrades
An energy audit is the first step to increasing your home’s efficiency.
The audit report provides a comprehensive list of upgrades to increase your home’s efficiency. Our team can help you make these energy upgrades!
We have years of experience performing energy upgrades to homes. Our partner company, William D. Wooden Enterprises, is part of our energy upgrade team. Their impeccable reputation, combined with our keen eye for energy efficiency, ensures your home will receive the best possible care and the highest quality work available.
Recommended energy upgrades can vary for each home based on the results of an individual audit report. The energy upgrades most commonly needed include:
-
Air leaks allow conditioned air to escape your home and allow unconditioned exterior air to impact your home’s energy use. Upgrading insulation can be an important energy move, as many older homes are poorly insulated or have no insulation at all. Properly installed insulation in attics, walls, and floors provides for more even temperatures throughout the house and results in a quieter, more comfortable living environment that is less costly to heat and cool.
-
Windows and the space around windows naturally lose energy. The hole cut in the home’s exterior to place the window creates a vulnerable space in the home’s exterior. If not properly sealed or through shifting as a home ages, conditioned air can escape the home. Additionally, glass has one of the lowest energy values (also known as R-value) of any building material. Leaky panes or single pane windows could be recommended for replacement.
-
Similar to windows, the hole cut in a home’s exterior creates a point for energy loss. Through natural aging or improper installation, most doors benefit from air sealing. If the door is quite old, replacing the door may be recommended.
-
Many homes have leaky ductwork and poor airflow. This results in conditioned air not reaching its intended destination, but rather leaking into the basement or another area where having conditioned air is not a priority. Insulating ductwork in attics and crawl spaces as well as balancing the duct system to optimize airflow to all rooms can reduce energy usage and increase your home’s overall comfort.
-
Heating and cooling your home can account for up to 50% of your home’s energy use. Installed correctly, high-efficiency ENERGY STAR units can help you save on heating and cooling costs.
-
Energy used for lighting and appliances can account for 25% of your home’s total energy consumption. Upgrading with ENERGY STAR qualified products may be recommended to further reduce your energy consumption.

Yes. We can provide proposals for any and all recommendations. We are a one-stop shop to improving your home.

No. You are not required to make any improvements, just because an audit has been completed. The audit is like a road map to efficiency. It will show you how to make your improvements but you decide when you would like to make them. When the time is right for you to make the improvements, our team can help.
-
Yes. If you would like to receive a rebate though a utility program, you must do so within a year of the date of your audit. This is done to ensure that the work being performed to the home is based on relevant data of the existing conditions of your home. If you wait longer than a year, you will need to perform a new audit at full price (does not qualify for a rebate) to re-calculate existing conditions.
-
Because we are participating contractors in utility rebate programs, we can provide a rebate. Currently, we can provide rebates of 50% of the cost to insulate and air seal a home up to $2000. You will receive information regarding your eligibility to receive a rebate when you receive your report. If you decide to move forward with the work, we will submit the proper paperwork to ensure you receive your rebate.
